Hello, all. So, we as staff have been talking, and are thinking that we need some kind of interactive activity for the Zone, for members to get involved in. Something like we did with Icon, or Tune Trivia, etc. Not those same things, but something along those lines. We are wondering what suggestions you all have for contests, or other activities that would get everyone involved. A talent show of some nature, for example. Look forward to hearing from you guys.
i know at one point people were interested in a movie trivia type thing. something like tune trivia sort of but with movies.
as for ideas, i personally loved when dusty did his quicknote quizzes. it was a blast.

Yeah, maybe something like zone trivia, or zoners trivia contests.
Good thinkking Pippi. We could even play clips from movies as soundbytes later in the contest and run a similar competition scheme as we did in Tune Trivia. Certainly, that's something worht looking at. I wouldn't even mind doing Tune Trivia again if we could pull together a good audio production staff to do this. It would take 2 or 3 responsible people to do it. The key word is responsible. I think something similar would have to be established for a movie trivia contest if we wanted to do anything more than just ask questions. We could even incorperate name that show tune, for example.
There are a good number of zoners that seem to be interested in creative writing, why not have a contest based on different catagories of writing short stories, poetry etc... Each week they could submit a piece of writing for that topic, and each week the zoners could vote for which piece of writing was liked the best, and the submissions could be read by the submitter if you want to have it stremed like in the past.

I am in full support of the creative writing contest. That sounds like an excellent idea.
Something more in the way of general knowledge would i think be more interesting than a movie version of tune trivia. I found it way too specialist knowledge based.
Here's the problem with creative writing contests. What one person judges to be a masterpiece, another may consider to be a master peice of crap. It could work I suppose if we have some sort of sports challenge poll set up for it and have users vote? We've already decided that if we do such a contest, we will be using the zone's streaming facilities to avoid any drama and bs. The good thing about having someone read their submissions is that there won't be a lot of production needed.
General knowledge trivia? How would that work? Maybe have movies one week, music another, and then what? I'm not trying to shoot down either idea entirely, just asking questions.
Yeah, I agree about the trivia. Not all of us, myself included, are into movies or local sports. That way, we could all have a little fun. The creative idea sounds interesting. What about a recipe contest, where users have to create or find (siting sources of course) a recipe in one of several categories? That way, the more advanced cooks could explore their creativity while the newbies or those who don't really like cooking could maybe come up with a beverage or a simple sandwitch etc?
Perhaps we could just setup a group of judges for the creative writing contest? That sounds better than having bunches of people vote on it.
Perhaps we could just vote on the most creative board topic for the week.

I like the idea of the general knowledge trivia. that way, the people who don't watch TV still have a shot. I like the idea of having a different category every week.
Since so many people like the idea of voting, I think creative writing would be a good idea, although I think it should be more of a tallent show, where writing or other forms of tallent that could be displayed on the zone could be included. For example, music, ETC.

For instance, when Dusty did the quick note quizzes, he had 20 questions, each in a different category. this would work for general knowledge. you could have math, sports and leasure, current events, geography, music, blah blah blah and so on. i can't remember all the differnt ones dusty used, but you get the idea.
Ok, we'll need to get people to come up with questions and also a production stafff for that. I was thinking to maybe just have similar categories each week, but do something with the questions differently. For example, A small section of name that tune, for music, name that movie for movies, and maybe somehow integrate geography or sports in to that audio portion of the questions. The next week, have the same categories, but maybe have all the questions being read out by the host/co-host. The following show could be a who/what am I thing? for example, name the artest athelete, Movie or place based on clues. THe fewer clues it takes you to get the right answer, the higher the number of points you receive. Thoughts? Does anyone care to expand on this?
The talent show thing would be a good idea, except that it would get too big, I think, and become too complex. I'm a little worried about the general trivia contest doing that too, but I see what you guys are saying about coming up with a different category every week, or as Scott says, different variations on the same categories. Sounds kind of like Jeopardy, in a way.
As someone who loves writing, I do like the idea of a creative writing contest, though I do see Scott's point that we all have different tastes, so it's very subjective. I agree that the idea of voting is probably the best way to go, so the whole Zone could participate, not just a limited pannel of judges. I don't know how easy that would be to set up as a poll, but I like it and the trivia ideas the best.

I am in favour of the general knowledge thingie, because the moment you go for other audio stuff, it makes the production more complicated, in my opinion, and, as you Scott and Alicia, will know, my whole point when coming up with the song writing contest on the staff list, was that it would not involve as much production and preproduction.

Yeah. I see your point about the tallent show. I still like the idea, like most people, about the trivia, and having a new category every week.
I think General Knowledge would be fun. I loved the thing Dusty did but unfortunately, I couldn't get involved in it 'cuz it interfered with something I did every week.

Exactly how we are gonna do this contest, have not been decided yet.
I think the purpose of this topic was more to get an idea of what you guys would like to see happening on here, ... something that could get a lot of users involved, whether they're actually participating, or whether it's in a voting capasity.
So, pleasekeep your ideas and suggestions coming.

the tallent show's nice and all though i didon't take part, some of the tallent on zone icon was awsome and it was nice to listen to it.
I'd be willing to help out with some production, but have a busy schedule for the next few months. Maybe we could just do one week where we have audio clips and the rest general knowledge stuff that wouldn't require much editing at all. While VT would be nice, due to lagistical issues associated with the program itself, I don't know that it's possible. Maybe someone could sponsor one and get some kind of add put in the show regarding whatever it is they're selling? The QN Quiz is another possibility, maybe happening on a monthly basis, but we'll need to figure a way to do this easily. The other issue with this, of course, is coming up with good questions...

Hmmm. Well, I don't know of any companies that would be willing to sponsor, maybe you could give the winner free cyber sex q? I'd offer, but I doubt Alicia would like it, and if I did offer, that would make it so that no one would want to participate. Lmao.

I would like to see some type of trivia game like jeperty this way you could test more than one area of knowledge.
Bring back the singing contest. It was very enjoyable that last time. People who didn't use the site enjoyed it too.
